We had a great opportunity this week to take Connor and Lauren to the new Draper Utah Temple open house. We talked about the temple all week and the kids were so excited. We checked them out of school early, got lunch on the way and dropped Cody off at Grandma's house (didn't think Cody would do well at the temple:)). They have you park in a church parking lot and then they show you a short video. We then loaded onto a big Greyhound bus and drove up to the temple. The kids loved the bus ride. The temple is way up on the hill in a really nice neighborhood. The tour of the temple was wonderful. Everything is clean and perfect. I loved the beautiful paintings and nice furnishings. Lauren loved the sparkling chandeliers. This was the best opportunity to teach our kids about the temple. Being able to see all the rooms and talk about what goes on in each one made for real sweet teaching moments. The spirit in the temple is stronger than anywhere else on earth. After the tour you end up in the cultural hall of a church that is right next to the temple. We had cookies and then got back on the bus to head back to our car. This was definitely a day to remember for us and the kids.
Fun! I am really wanting to go to the open house as well. My dad is being a tour guide next week as well....he lives in that stake, so he is lucky! How are you all doing? Your kids are so darn cute! Are things slowing down now that the ward split is further into the past? I miss you guys sooooo much, and I know that I say that a lot, but it is the absolute truth!
Now that we live two hours away from any temple (& have to make an appointment to get in!) - I appreciate them a lot more!!! That is a beautiful temple! What a fun thing to do with your kids! They are so adorable! Lisa
I'm glad you had the opportunity to take your kids and go. What a perfect time to teach about the temple. Your pictures look great. Leave it to YOU to find the perfect spot for a picture with the temple perfectly pictured in the background. We should have hired you to do our wedding photos. ;)
I'm a stay at home mom to 3 wonderful children. I am married to my best friend. I love spending time with my family, playing the piano, traveling, sewing, photography, running, watching a good movie and going on dates with my hubby. Life is good!
