The birds have hatched!! Checking on our nest today I was shocked to find the cute robin blue eggs replaced with tiny balls of flesh and fuzz. I thought for sure that we would be waiting for weeks and weeks for these babies to arrive. And, to be honest, they are the ugliest things you have ever seen. If you did not know they were birds, you would think they were aliens. In my mind I envisioned these beautiful, feathered,
squawking, cute-as-can-be baby robins hatching from their shells. Was I wrong (you can obviously tell that I grew up in the city)! Their eyes aren't open yet and there are no beautiful songs being sung. I'm sure that will come. And we will wait with anxious anticipation for our 'ugly ducklings' to blossom.

Now you just need to teach Cody to chew up worms and then feed them to the baby birds!!
*by the way, I'm sure National Geographic Magazine doesn't appreciate you stealing their photos for your personal blog!
Love the 'nature' posts. I'm learning so much :)
Keep us posted...
Oh, by the way...watch out for the 'momma' bird, she'll be nasty!
ahhh the beauty that only a mother can love.
Them are some ulgy birds!
:)
Cant wait to see a picture of them a little older!
The eggs were so pretty too!
Wow, that was quick. You did not even know you were expecting and then BOOM, your babies have arrived. If only that could happen in real life...
We have a nest too, and we check it daily, anxiously awaiting the day when those eggs hatch...but now I'm having second thoughts! I too was expecting cute little fuzzy babies. Maybe we should forget about the nest and move on!
Guess where I found OUR baby birds? Yep, in the dryer vent again. Like I need another excuse to not do laundry...
Congratulations on your little ones!
